I love having my girls in the kitchen to help prepare for our family meals. John’s birthday is around Thanksgiving every year, so it’s even more fun to have them helping to make “daddy’s special dinner.” A simple way to get them involved in the process is to have their assistance with pie assembly. The recipes are typically not too involved + it is great for short attention spans. I typically will have the girls help with the pie by rolling out the dough + practice pressing the dough into the pan. They will also help in preparing the filling, which is perfect for practicing their measuring skills. Here are a few other tasks that will get them involved + grow kids curiosity in the kitchen:

- Peel potatoes
- Tear Lettuce
- Rip up stale bread for the stuffing
- Pick herbs off the stems; good for increasing their fine motor skills
- Measuring ingredients
- Chop vegetables (if they are old enough)

My favorite thing is to get my girls involved in making the vegetable + main courses so they take pride in what they have prepared. These memories are something I cherish + hope they will too.
